Help us get to Edinburgh!
What we’re doingThis summer we will take off on our greatest adventure yet. We have secured a spot at one of the top four venues at the Edinburgh Fringe - the Gilded Balloon - and have even been granted an amazing time slot - 8pm! We’re taking our first hit show - Morro and Jasp do Puberty - and are so excited. We are also thrilled to be working with Derrick Chua, a seasoned theatre producer - not to mention one of Toronto’s top entertainment lawyers - who has managed several successful Edinburgh tours and we can’t wait.

Why it matters
The Edinburgh Festival is the largest theatre festival in the world. Presenters from all over the globe flock to the three week festival looking for the next big hit and we think it’s our time to shine! We are celebrating our 10th anniversary this year, and in the past decade we have accomplished a lot. We won a Dora Award (a Canadian version of a Tony Award), a Canadian Comedy Award, a Gourmand Award, and we have received 5-star reviews across the country. You can click here to view our press page.

Why it really mattersWe believe in what we do with Morro and Jasp, not just as a career choice but as a calling. We have dedicated a decade (so far) to bringing joy and delight to our audiences and we want to make sure we can continue to do so for the next 10 years. If you know us, you know that we are dreamers who work everyday to bring our dreams of love and laughter to life. Any help in bringing this dream to an international audience would mean the world to us.

What do we need?Crossing the pond is expensive. Over the course of this project, we will have to pay for a laundry list of things, including flights, accommodations, publicity and marketing materials, venue costs and hired help, costumes and props, meals and much more. Since we will be in Edinburgh for almost a month, this will be by far the most expensive undertaking we have ever attempted but we are committed to making it worthwhile. After 10 years, we have learned how to stretch (and re-stretch) a dollar but we know enough to know we can’t do it alone.
|
What’s our plan? Our goal is to raise $35,000. In order to be able do this, we have developed a five stage fundraising plan we are putting into action, starting today. This includes a public crowdfunding initiative, several arts grants - one of which we have already secured, a number of live fundraisers, as well as emptying our own piggy banks. The first stage of our campaign, however, is our angel donor stage and that’s where you come in!
